Roadrunner -- A Film About Anthony Bourdain, was released in July of 2021. It documents the rapid rise of a middle-aged chef, turned writer, turned TV host who took us along as he sampled foods that most of us would never taste…in locations most of us would never see in person. Though he lived a successful life that many found people found inspiring, Bourdain took his own life. The film touches upon his lifeline battle with anxiety and depression and shows how a man who was idolized by many could inspire mixed emotions from the people closest to him. We wanted to cover this film because of the way it documents how his obsessions with drugs, food, travel, Jiu-Jitsu, and women acted as self-treatment for his mental health issues. And because we’re always curious about why certain people – who are fighting with demons of their own -- resonate with a broad cross-section of society.
